Astronomical Society Arktos (registered society) is a group for astronomers, both amateurs and professionals. Our home town is Oulu, Finland.
Our activities include (but are not limited to) club meetings, observing the sky at our observatories, arranging star shows and other public events, and presentations/lectures.
Arktos has two own observatories which are located in Oulu Puolivälinkangas and Paavola. In Puolivälinkangas, we have a Celestron CPC 1100 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, and in Paavola the main instrument is an Astrophysics Starfire 178/1250 mm refractor. A brief history of Arktos can be found in historiikki.
